Will Barnes is a consummate musician - a great electric and acoustic guitarist who revels in improvisation, bluesy interpretations and exciting jazz performance! This, is a very special outing for him at Witney Jazz, where he’ll be creating music with a brand new set of musicians: Award winning pianist/organist Pete Whittaker will be on hand as will bassist Paul Jefferies and the excellent drummer Mark Whitlam to ensure the jazz is first class. The music on offer will be based around the highly successful guitar / organ bands of guitar maestros George Benson and Wes Montgomery.

British multi-award winner and Jools Holland’s lead saxophonist for 20 years, Derek Nash is possibly the busiest jazz saxophone player in the UK today, so we’re especially excited to have been able to grab him with his brilliant brand new Sax/ Organ / Drums project for this show at Witney Jazz. Let’s just name drop for a moment: Derek has regularly performed and recorded with Eric Clapton, Sir Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Amy Winehouse the Ronnie Scotts Explosion and oodles more, as well as leading six of his own highly successful projects. On Hammond organ will be the brilliant Jim Watson just check out his bio page, he’s performed with an exceptional range of world class talent and finally one of the the UK's most prolific drummers - Mr George Double. Sarah Vaughan was in many experts opinions the finest jazz singer to come out of the golden era of jazz singers in the heyday of American vocal jazz. She had several hits as well as a hugely successful career as a jazz vocalist per se. This very special show is brought to you by the excellent Australian (now London based) Jazz & Soul vocalists Lily Dior with a quartet featuring multi-award winning saxophonist Simon Allen , Jez Cook (guitar), Paul Jefferies (bass) and Rob Brian (drums). Since arriving in the UK, Lily has performed at all of the prestigious venues throughout the country to much critical acclaim. A gorgeous sassy voice coupled with a true understanding of the music of Jazz and a technique that gives her audiences pin-point pitching, meaningful lyrical interpretation and a joy for the music she’s performing.

Several years ago, bassist Paul Jefferies created a set of arrangements for the music of composer and bassist ‘Sting', but they have never really been aired properly in public. Paul has asked good friend and pianist Alex Steele to help create a show that uses some of these and add some of Alex’s Sting favourites to the mix. Sting’s music has always appealed to jazz musicians with its unique melodies and great opportunities to improvise over and around some extraordinary harmonies, so we are excited to hear the results! Paul on double bass and bass guitar, Alex plays piano, the excellent, powerful Rob Griffin will be on tenor sax - drummer to be announced!

Pianist, violist, bassist and guitarist Pete Billington is an immensely talented instrumentalist AND a much sought after arranger. You may have seen him on stage with hit singer Rumer, Colin Blunstone, ABC and a plethora of the finest jazz musicians in the UK. He has created and perfected a show that has Christmas at its very core - the music of church carols blended with classic jazz and pop Christmas hits. He’ll be on stage with a two horn front line, bassist Paul Jefferies and celebrated drummer Jason Reeve.
